Shipments being received at an Elite Anywhere warehouse

What a receiving warehouse does in the DMV

A receiving warehouse is a commercial address that accepts freight on your behalf. Elite Anywhere runs one for the Washington area at 5160 Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria: carriers deliver there, each arrival is photographed and condition-checked, and the order waits in climate-controlled storage until one crew brings it to the room.

What’s included in Washington-area receiving

Receiving at an Elite Anywhere warehouse
A dock that accepts trade freight
Many vendors ship only to a commercial dock with set hours, which a Capitol Hill row house or a Logan Circle condo cannot offer, so carriers book Eisenhower Avenue instead.
Condition photos as each order lands
Deliveries are photographed in their packaging on arrival, and the record is kept in Bond for you, your client or the vendor.
Inspection whenever you ask, at no charge
Cartons are opened and checked piece by piece on request. If the packaging comes in damaged, we tell you and you decide whether we open it.
Storage that stands up to a DC summer
Wood, upholstery and leather wait in climate-controlled space with humidity control, rather than a basement in Takoma Park or a garage in Vienna.
Unannounced cartons traced
About two shipments in ten turn up without notice. The team calls the carrier or the sender to find the project they belong to rather than turning them away.
Building requirements met ahead of time
Condo towers in Navy Yard, Foggy Bottom and Rosslyn often want a certificate of insurance before a crew enters, and we issue it before delivery day.
Placement, assembly and cleanup
The crew protects the route in, carries each piece to its room, assembles and places it, and leaves with the cartons and blankets.

How receiving works at our Alexandria warehouse

Received boxes logged and stored at an Elite Anywhere warehouse
1

Receive

Vendors ship to 5160 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304, booking an appointment Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm. We ask for the bill of lading so we know what was actually sent.

2

Inspect, Photograph, and Document

On the dock, the outside packaging is condition-checked against the list you sent us, and damage is reported before storage; cartons are opened for inspection whenever you ask. Photos go into Bond, so your client login shows what has landed in Alexandria and what is on its way.

3

Store

Pieces wait together in climate-controlled space while a Kalorama kitchen is finished or a Potomac closing date slips. You can visit them, or ask for fresh photos, at any point.

4

Deliver and install

On the day you choose, the order leaves Alexandria as one delivery for the District, Northern Virginia or Maryland. You get a text about 30 minutes before the crew arrives, and they place, assemble and clear the packaging.

Frequently asked questions

Receiving in Washington, DC: common questions

Is there a receiving warehouse near Washington, DC?
Yes. Ours is at 5160 Eisenhower Ave in Alexandria, Virginia, and it is staffed by Elite Anywhere, not a partner. It takes vendor freight by appointment on weekdays from 9am to 3pm for projects in the District, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The rest of our local service is on the Washington, DC hub page.
Can I ship furniture to your warehouse instead of my DC address?
Yes. Give each vendor the Eisenhower Avenue address with your name or project on the order, and send us the list of what is coming. Pieces are held until the house or apartment is ready, then delivered together; see furniture delivery in Washington, DC for the delivery side.
Do you receive for interior designers in Northern Virginia and Maryland?
Yes. Designers working in McLean, Great Falls, Bethesda or Potomac ship trade orders to one address, follow arrivals through their client login, and book the install when the room is done. Hotels, showrooms and art collectors use the same service. More on the interior design logistics page.
Can you store pieces until my row house or condo is ready?
Yes, short or long term, with no minimum period. We can also collect a piece from a local showroom or dealer and record its condition before it travels. Everything stays in climate-controlled space, and you can visit or ask for new photos; details are on our furniture storage page.
What happens if something arrives damaged?
The packaging is photographed as it lands. If it shows damage, we tell you before the piece is stored and you decide whether we open it; inspection on request costs nothing. Those photos give you a record to take to the vendor. How receiving works everywhere we operate is on our receiving warehouse page.
How much does receiving cost in the DC area?
Every job is quoted individually. The quote depends on how many vendors are shipping, the size of the pieces, and the delivery address and its building rules. Send the vendor list and the address, and we’ll respond within 24 hours.

Orders headed for a DC home that isn’t ready yet?

Give your vendors our Alexandria address and tell us when the rooms will be finished. We’ll respond within 24 hours, then deliver the whole order in one trip.
