What happens when a shipment lands.

Receive
Vendors ship to 6359 Chalet Drive, Commerce, CA 90040, and each carrier books an appointment Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. We also request the bill of lading from whoever shipped it, since it records what actually left their dock.
Inspect, Photograph, and Document
Our Commerce staff condition-check the packaging against the list you sent us; anything damaged is flagged to you first, and you choose whether we open and inspect the cartons. Photos go into Terminal against your project, so you can tell a client in Pasadena the dining chairs are in.
Store
Pieces are kept in conditioned space, sorted by job, for as long as a permit, a plaster crew or a late kitchen holds up the room.
Deliver and install
When you give the word, the order leaves Commerce together, a text goes to you roughly 30 minutes ahead of the crew, and the route into the house is protected before anything is carried in.
See what arrived, without calling.
Every piece is listed in Terminal with its vendor, sidemark, arrival photos and status, so you, your client or the install lead can check the order from anywhere.

What a Los Angeles receiving warehouse is for
A receiving warehouse is the address your vendors ship to instead of the job site, so no truck pulls up to a house still full of scaffolding. In Commerce, each delivery is photographed, compared with the list you sent us and held in climate-controlled space. When the rooms are finished, our crew brings everything over and sets it in place.
What we receive
- Upholstery, case goods and dining sets
- Lighting, mirrors and framed art
- Rugs, outdoor furniture and accessories
- FF&E for hotels, offices and showrooms
How it arrives
- Single cartons through to crated, palletized freight
- Oversized pieces that need a dock, not a doorstep
- Custom and one-of-a-kind pieces that cannot be reordered
- Multi-vendor orders that land weeks apart
Who uses receiving in Los Angeles.
The dock work is the same for every buyer, but what arrives and what it waits for change from one trade to the next, so each industry below has its own page.

Interior designers
Trade orders ship to our dock, not the client’s house, and wait there for install day.

How a receiving warehouse differs from storage and a 3PL
| What you get | Receiving warehouse | Self-storage unit | Standard 3PL |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who signs the delivery receipt | Our Commerce staff, on your behalf | You, or whoever you can send | A dock clerk, booking it in as stock |
| Record of condition | Photos of each delivery, kept with your project | Your own phone, if you are there | Usually a carton count |
| Damaged packaging | Shown to you before storage; opened if you ask | Found when you next visit | Noted against the shipment |
| Storage | Climate-controlled, kept together by project | Up to the facility you rent | Racks built for picking orders |
| Hillside homes and high-rises | Access planned, certificate of insurance supplied | A separate mover to find | Seldom part of the service |
| Last step | Brought inside, assembled, cartons taken away | You move it again yourself | Dropped at the loading door |
