Shipments being received at an Elite Anywhere warehouse

What a receiving warehouse does for a store

A receiving warehouse for retailers is a commercial dock that takes vendor freight in the store’s name. With Elite Anywhere, stock and sold orders land at the warehouse location serving your market, get photographed and checked against the list you sent us, wait in climate-controlled storage, and then go out to the store or the customer’s home.

What’s included in receiving for retailers

Receiving at an Elite Anywhere warehouse
Freight kept off the sales floor
Most home stores have no dock and very little back room, so vendors book a delivery appointment with our warehouse and a freight truck never blocks the entrance while shoppers are inside.
Sold orders filed under the buyer
A dining set sold on the floor is logged under the customer’s name or your order number, kept apart from display stock, and held there until its delivery date.
Arrivals photographed and checked
Cartons are photographed in their packaging the moment they come off the truck and compared with the list you sent us. Damaged packaging is reported to the store before anything is put away.
Inspection on request, free of charge
Ask for a carton to be opened and the team checks the piece inside at no cost, which is worth doing on a high-value order before your customer’s delivery is booked.
Back stock in climate-controlled space
Replacement pieces, overflow and next season’s lines sit in secured, humidity-controlled warehouses with pest control, for a few days or many months, with no minimum period.
Unexpected cartons traced to the right store
Roughly two arrivals in ten turn up with no notice. The team phones the carrier or the vendor to learn which store or customer a carton belongs to.
Delivery to the store or the customer’s room
The crew sends a text about 30 minutes out, covers the route in, assembles and positions each piece, and takes the cartons and wrapping away.
Certificates of insurance for malls and towers
Shopping centers and residential buildings often want one on file before a crew may enter, and we send it ahead of the delivery.

How receiving works for a retail store

Received boxes logged and stored at an Elite Anywhere warehouse
1

Receive

Your vendors book an appointment at the warehouse location serving your market; our staffed hubs take freight Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm. We ask each vendor for the bill of lading so we know what was actually shipped.

2

Inspect, Photograph, and Document

The packaging is condition-checked against your list and damage reported before storage; you decide whether we open it, and a full inspection is free on request. Each arrival is photographed and logged in Bond against the store, sale or customer; your staff's login shows arrivals and what is coming.

3

Store

Pieces wait in climate-controlled space until a gap opens on the floor, a new store is ready to be furnished, or a customer’s renovation is finished. Stock is released to the store in the quantities you ask for, and fresh photos of any piece are available on request.

4

Deliver and install

On the date you set, the crew brings the order to the store or to the buyer’s room of choice, assembles and places it, and photographs its condition at delivery. The customer signs off, and that sign-off is kept on record.

Frequently asked questions

Receiving for retailers: common questions

Can our vendors ship to your warehouse instead of the store?
Yes. Give each vendor the address of the warehouse location serving your market, put the store name on every order, and send us the list of what is coming. Freight is booked in by appointment, photographed and checked, and the store hears straight away about anything that looks wrong.
Can you deliver sold pieces from the warehouse to our customers?
Yes. Your customer gets a text about 30 minutes before the crew arrives, the route into the home is protected, and the piece is carried to the room, assembled, placed and photographed. Packaging leaves with the crew, the sign-off is kept on record, and the customer can follow the order with photo check-ins and live tracking.
Can you hold furniture for a new store until it opens?
Yes. Orders from every vendor are received under the new store’s name, kept together in climate-controlled space with no minimum period, and delivered, assembled and placed once the site is ready. You can visit or ask for new photos while you wait; see furniture storage. Store openings and rollouts as a whole are covered on our retail logistics page.
What happens when a vendor shipment arrives damaged?
The packaging is photographed as it lands, and the store is told before the piece is put away. You decide whether we open it, and inspection on request costs nothing. Those photos give you the evidence for a claim with the vendor well before the customer’s delivery date. The full process is on our receiving warehouse page.
Do you have a receiving warehouse near our stores?
In most large markets, yes. There are 34 warehouse locations, from New York and Boston to Miami, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and Seattle, and Elite Anywhere delivers anywhere in the country. Two markets have their own receiving pages: New York, where freight is received in Long Island City, and Denver.
How much does receiving cost for a retailer?
Every job is quoted individually. The quote depends on how many vendors ship in, the size and number of pieces, and whether they go to a store or to customers’ homes. Send your vendor list and store addresses, and we’ll respond within 24 hours.

Stock and sold orders with nowhere to land?

Point your vendors at the Elite Anywhere warehouse nearest your store and tell us where each order is going. We’ll respond within 24 hours, then hold everything together until the store or the customer is ready.
